2022 Ford F-150 vs 2022 RAM 1500

2022 Ford F-150 vs. 2022 Ram 1500 in Carleton Place, ON

The Ford F-150 has been a top-selling truck in North America for decades. It's a versatile, do-anything truck that offers strong performance and impressive capabilities. One of its chief competitors is the Ram 1500. Both models are full-size, light-duty pickup trucks. Both are classified as half-ton trucks, so it's only natural that they're frequently compared. Here's a look at how they stack up in some important categories.

Performance Specs and Capabilities

The 2022 Ford F-150 and 2022 Ram 1500 are tough trucks that can haul and tow heavy loads. The Ford, however, offers best-in-class towing and payload capacities. With the proper setup, the F-150 can tow up to 14,000 pounds and haul a payload of up to 3,325 pounds. This easily tops what the Ram 1500 is capable of doing.

Ford's F-150 gets its power from several available engines. The base engine is a 3.3-litre V6 that can produce 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Ford also offers a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 that produces 400 horsepower with 500 lb-ft of torque and a 5.0-litre V8 that makes 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. With all these options available, the Ford F-150 offers first-class versatility and power.

Exterior Features and Design

These two trucks are both attractive and available in many body styles. They share exterior features such as premium LED headlights, taillights, and fog lamps. Both trucks offer LED daytime running lights and heated exterior mirrors. The Ford F-150 has a handy power liftgate that makes loading and unloading cargo much easier. The available tailgate step makes it easier to get in and out of the cargo bed when needed. With its bold, more aggressive look and fun yet functional design, the Ford F-150 cannot be beaten.

Interior Features and Technology

On the inside, the Ford F-150 is a little more upscale and has more comfortable seats than its Ram counterpart. Inside the Ram, most trim levels have manually adjustable seats with available power seats and two-way adjustable lumbar support. The Ford's seats also offer power adjustments and lumbar support. Heating is available for both the front and rear seats inside the F-150. Each truck has an available dual-zone climate-control system to keep everyone nice and comfortable.

While each truck has a modern infotainment system with a touchscreen display, the Ford's SYNC 4 system is more intuitive. It offers enhanced voice-recognition technology, an integrated navigation system, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot so that everyone can stay connected. The F-150 also has an available premium B&O sound system by Bang and Olufsen, complete with 18 speakers and 1,080 watts of power.
